Hawaii Pathologists' Laboratory awarded $700K for pathology research

The Edwin Everest Foundation has awarded more than $700,000 to Hawaii Pathologists' Laboratory (HPL) to support pathology research for the next 10 years.

The Los Angeles-based nonprofit, which focuses on clinical research and supporting graduate medical education, will fund two pathology research fellows to conduct research in Hawaii and partner with HPL per year. The grant supports HPL's clinical and translational research, which often is in conjunction with the University of Hawaii's John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii Community Colleges, and the Queen's Medical Center. The intent is to create a personalized medicine program for patients with cancer, cardiovascular disease and metabolic disorder.
